Quad Cities moving FAQ
How is the flat price kept firm?
Alex looks at what you are actually moving, or how much labor you need, and how tough the access is, then gives you one price and holds to it. As long as the job matches what you told us, it lands on that exact flat price, with no meter and no rounding up at the end.
Are the movers Alex's crew or hired out?
Our own, every time. Alex keeps a trained, background-checked crew right here in Rock Island and runs every job himself, so no broker takes a cut and no stranger walks into your home.
When and how do I pay?
Payment comes after the job is done, aside from the small refundable hold on your date. We take card, check, or cash, and you okay the final flat price right there before the crew heads out.
Do you take a deposit?
Just a small refundable hold to lock in your crew and your date, and nothing else. The rest is due once the job is done, and the estimate is always free.
Do stairs, a piano, or a bridge crossing get charged at the end?
No. A third-floor walk-up, a piano or a safe, and the drive across the river are all in the flat price before the first box moves, so the number never drifts from what Alex quoted you.
Can you move through Quad Cities winters and summers?
All year. Through a hard Midwest January we salt the steps and load fast so nothing sits out in the cold; in the humid summer we start early and keep a steady pace. Your date holds whether it is an ice storm or a muggy July afternoon by the river.
How do you deal with the river bridges and Quad Cities traffic?
We plan around it. The crew times the drive against I-74, I-280, and River Drive, works the Centennial and I-74 bridge crossings around rush hour, and the window we gave you still holds.
Do you handle old bluff homes and two-state moves?
All the time. The tall old bluff-top homes in Rock Island and Davenport with their narrow century-old stairs, the college-area walk-ups, and moves that cross the Mississippi between Illinois and Iowa are everyday work for us, planned and priced ahead.
Do you move pianos and heavy items?
Yes, and it is already in your flat price. Pianos, gun safes, gym equipment, and the other heavy, awkward pieces ride on the right board with proper straps and padding, muscled out by a crew that has moved plenty of them.
Can you handle downtown and apartment building COIs?
Yes. Plenty of downtown Davenport and Moline buildings and the college-area apartments ask for a Certificate of Insurance and a booked elevator or dock time. Send us the building rules and we file the COI and reserve the window ahead.
Do you do labor-only, or load a POD or rental truck?
We do, and it is half of what we do, it is right in our name. Book Alex's crew just for the muscle: we will load or unload your rental truck, POD, or trailer, or move a few heavy pieces, packed tight and padded, all for one flat price.
How much notice should I give?
A week or two out suits most jobs, and month-ends and college move weeks fill up soonest. If the crew has an opening we will still take a short-notice or next-day job, even labor-only, so it never hurts to give Alex a call.
What keeps my floors and walls from getting marked?
Runners go down on the floors, the door frames and railings get padded, and the furniture is blanket-wrapped first, so both the old place and the new one come through clean, tight old river-town stairwells and all.
Which parts of the Quad Cities do you cover?
Both sides of the river. All of the Illinois Quad Cities, from Rock Island and Moline out to Silvis, Geneseo, and Coal Valley, plus the Iowa side, Davenport, Bettendorf, Eldridge, and Le Claire, and long-distance moves out of state.
Ready for a flat price you can plan the whole Quad Cities move around?
Your flat price comes straight from Alex, usually the same day you ask.
